SunsetLab Website
Brand Design + Project Management + UI&UX Design +
Web Development
SunsetLab serves as a single-stop resource for any cultural products related to a country. And it encourages users to share their thoughts, interests, and works, and to find a community
SunsetLab Project is my capstone project for my master's degree. In this project, I explored various topics related to my courses at USC, including project management, web strategy, graphic design, brand storytelling as well as marketing strategy!

On this blue sphere, there are always two different places that alternate between day and night, light and dark. While you are enjoying the sunrise, people on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean are immersed in the sunset.
What is life like for the people in that time zone experiencing sunset?
What stories do they tell in what language?
With this concern, SunsetLab is designed to search and embrace any possible digital patterns to build an online platform for German artists where they showcase their work to the audience all over the world, and to provide an encompassing environment for viewers to engage with the art.

Sunset is not only a description of a natural phenomenon on earth but also a gracious invitation to join in this blooming and diversified cultural feast.
To successfully launch the project, I made a project plan as guidance.
I looked to other popular media browsing platforms as sources of inspiration.
I developed lists of features from each platform that we liked or thought could we could improve upon. I also developed three user personas to guide the wireframing and ideation process.

Goethe-Institut does a great job of showcasing German art and books, but text-based content is most heavily prioritized, so it’s very overwhelming for a first-time user
and its authoritative tone makes it less friendly and accessible.
Google is great at getting you to the information you’re looking for, and quickly.
I only wish the interface was a little more visually appealing.
I loved that Red incorporates lots of different types of content like video, images, and live-streaming. It makes content searchable with tagged content. However, there are no interest groups. So it’s hard to connect to people alike.
I developed three user personas to guide the wireframing and ideation process.
Belinda is a 19-year-old college student
She is studying German at the University of Southern California. She is eager to know more about German art, but she found it hard to find relevant resources
Belinda loves to check Sunsetlab out in her free time, which helps her gain a deeper understanding of German culture and society, even though she lives far away from Germany. More surprisingly, she made several friends through SunsetLab who are interested in German culture as well.

for SunsetLab
SunsetLab branding is designed to be welcoming, accessible, artsy, and techy
The goal of SunsetLab is to make German art accessible to anyone who is interested in German art and culture and encourage them to share their works and join the community. To achieve this goal, I want the website to look welcoming, accessible, artsy, and techy
So I used warm, bright tones and a rounded font to signal that SunsetLab is a community for all art lovers. At the same time, neon pink has a sense of a cyber world,
The logo is inspired by the sunset. An eye inside represents the audience is appealed to the charming cultural feast
The text is designed as a switch. “Sun” strands for the day that you are experiencing while “set” is night in another country. Once you push the button, you will enter the virtual world of sunsetLab, where you are able to take a virtual trip across the ocean and get immersed in the other culture.
